Letters from Russetmoor: Monthly

A story told in real letters, mailed to your door twice a month.

Eliza Darrow is nineteen, from a gray mill town nobody has heard of. Then a letter comes in violet ink, and a few days later she is in her first year at Russetmoor, a hidden school where it is always autumn.

Every first-year must write to a stranger in the outside world. This year, the stranger is you.

She can tell you anything, because you can never write back. So she does. The friend who gave her half a ginger cake. The girl she has decided to dislike. The master who looked straight at her on the very first night. And the one thing she hasn't told anyone at all.

"Keep this one, will you? If I sound very brave in the next, you'll know what I was like before I had anything to boast about."
From her first letter. Read the whole thing free.

What comes in the mail

  • A cream envelope around the 1st and the 15th of every month
  • Eliza's letter, printed in her own handwriting, crossings-out and all
  • Whatever she tucks in with it. Most envelopes carry a keepsake: a recipe card, a postcard, a drawing from home
  • The school's Almanac slip, with its weather and news, and the Office's round seal sticker for the week
  • Your first envelope also brings a welcome letter from the school's Keeper's Office, a folded map of the valley, and her autumn leaf seal sticker, sent "so you know I'm real"

How it works

  • $15 a month for two letters. Postage inside the US is included.
  • Everyone begins at Letter 1, whenever they join.
  • Renews each month. Pause, skip or cancel yourself any time from your account.

Our promise

Read her first two letters. If she isn't for you, tell us within 30 days of the second one being mailed, and we'll refund you in full. The letters are yours to keep.

If a letter hasn't arrived ten days after its mail date, we mail it again, free.

Letters from Russetmoor is a work of fiction, folded and packed by hand in Pocatello, Idaho. It is one-way mail: no real person is waiting on a reply. US addresses only.
